The Center For Elderly Suicide Prevention (CESP) provides a 24-hour friendship line, individual counseling, friendly home visits, and psychotherapy home visits for seniors aged 60 and over. Individual therapy is provided on a sliding scale. CESP is affiliated with the Goldman Institute On Aging.
- The 24-hour telephone line (415-752-3778) may be used by seniors, their caregivers, and their advocates. It provides free supportive telephone counseling for those who are bereaved, depressed, isolated, or abused.
- The bereavement program offers both ongoing and time-limited bereavement support groups for anyone who has experienced a suicide in the family. Calls regarding bereavement services should be directed to the bereavement program (415-750-5355). Grief groups are $15 per session.
- CESP also offers both undergraduate and graduate internships for counseling, psychology, gerontology, and social work majors. CESP can also provide professional training on suicide in the elderly and suicide bereavement. Calls regarding these subjects should be directed to the business office (415-750-5348).
