CIF : Coding Standards : Credit Attribution and References
CIF pages must include information about the source of the facts or opinions contained therein.
- Single-card modules may simply put the attribution at the bottom of the card using the CIF.CSS <P CLASS=CREDIT> tag.
- Multi-card modules should place attribution credits on a separate Credits page as the last card of the multi-care series.
- Inclusion of references to peer-reviewed literature is highly recommended. For multi-card CIF modules this is best done by adding a References page at the end of the set, before the Credits page.
- References and credits may include links to web sites, but only to the high-level (top) domain of the authors or major institutions. Links at lower levels within domains are not permitted due to the maintenance problems associated with link rot. An exception to this rule can be made if the link is to a page which is within domains managed by Growth House, Inc., which has procedures in place to maintain internal link integrity.
- If extensive Internet links are essential to the operation of a CIF module, it is best to place the links into the Growth House, Inc., search engine database and use custom search methods to access the links via remote search requests. This simplifies link maintenance and ensures that links used in multiple modules maintain internal consistency.
