CIF : Viewports : Subdirectories : educate/sitemaps
The educate/sitemaps subdirectory contains HTML pages which may provide the user with various views of the Viewport web site. These alternate site maps can be integrated with CIF content to dynamically change the navigational experience of the viewer. For example, if the user has selected a tutorial on roses the Viewport may optionally change its look and feel to include a customized site map pertaining to garden care and the importance of maintaining a balanced relationship with nature as a part of overall health. On the other hand, if the viewer selects a tutorial on hospice care the Viewport may load a customized site map guiding the user toward hospice content on the Viewport web site or elsewhere on the Internet.
The standard Viewport installation zip file provided by Growth House, Inc., includes several standard site maps pertaining to end of life care, bereavement, and major medical issues. These standard site maps include links to key resources on the Internet, plus pre-formatted search requests which will execute on the Growth House, Inc., database and on other major data stores on the Internet. Viewport sites may use these site map templates directly or may edit them as they wish.
- The educate/sitemaps subdirectory must contain a file called index.html which gives an overview of the alternative site map views which are available to the viewer. If the web designer does not want to let the user view this information directly this page should simply explain that the sitemaps subdirectory is not public information.
- The file name for a custom site map optimized for information about roses might be educate/sitemaps/rosemap.html.
